Uniform Reveal

For the 2024 season, I had the opportunity to lead the production of Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps’ uniform reveal video, introducing their new uniforms for the show BUSK, which drew inspiration from the world of street performers and buskers. As a director, I co-led a production team of over 15 crew members, overseeing every aspect of the video shoot and worked closely with photographer Matt Phan, who captured stills for Instagram and Facebook.

Due to time constraints, the entire project—from pre-production through final edit—was completed within sixteen hours, requiring precise coordination and decision-making under pressure. The end result was a visually engaging reveal that captured the spirit and energy of BUSK, providing fans and performers with an exciting first look at the 2024 uniforms.

The uniform reveal is always a big moment for most drum corps, and I wanted to make sure ours stood out. Instead of taking a common approach to showcase the uniforms on a football field or in an abstract setting, I chose to do it inside the Blue Knights' equipment trailer—known as the EQ truck. It is a space that is integral to the members' experience, and I wanted to capture something fresh and relevant to drum corps. The reveal builds anticipation by starting in darkness, and then, as the lights turn on, the audience is drawn into the bright, vibrant truck for the big reveal. The reveal gained over 65,000 views across three platforms, making it one of our most impactful projects of the season.
